I don't own a server with Hosthorde, but I'm part of a server that is hosted by them. Most players from Australia, South Africa, and New Zealand have terrible lag on here. Now mostly everyone regardless of where they live in the world gets lag on Hosthorde servers, they must oversell or something, but extreme lag causing players to leave the server is a detrimental problem. Some lag isn't uncommon for those areas, but when they get on, and get kicked from lag, when it takes a very long time for chat messages to show up, and blocks wont break is the kind of lag they're experiencing. Generally their pings are above 500ms. Sometimes above 1000ms. Nearly every other server they use gets under 150ms. Does anyone know why this is happening, or how this can be managed/fixed?
Server lag could be from too many chunks being loaded from a too big world, get world border set a limit and auto load every chunk over night. Make sure to get rid of worthless plugins and too have a good plan, the starter plan is not great for a decent size server. Also get a clear entities plugin and auto restart the server every 6-12 hours
We've actually done all of that already. Remember this lag only persists for people who don't live in the USA/Canada, while they can play fine on servers hosted by other hosts.
